How Clinic-Based ABA Therapy Works?

Clinic-based ABA therapy utilizes an individualized, 1:1 approach to treatment where children engage in various activities designed to promote communication, social interaction, independence, and academics. It begins with a comprehensive assessment of each child’s unique strengths and areas for improvement. Based on these assessments, personalized treatment plans are created to help children achieve specific goals and objectives.

Play is a fundamental component of center-based ABA therapy and through play-based interventions, therapists create engaging and enjoyable activities that simultaneously target specific skills. As your child progresses, treatment plans are adjusted to incorporate new behaviour targets and advance newly learned skills.

What to Expect During Our Center-Based ABA Programs?

At Providence Community, we understand every family's schedule is unique, so we offer flexible ABA program timings, including both daytime and afternoon options. We tailor the duration of each session to perfectly suit your child's needs. Our clinic is designed as an interactive space that beautifully merges learning with enjoyment. By leveraging a play-based method, we keep children fully engaged during their ABA sessions, paving the way for successful outcomes and lasting behavioral improvements.

Assessments

Before starting ABA sessions, you and your child will have an initial meeting with one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). During this meeting, our BCBA will evaluate your child’s current behavior and skill levels, allowing us to identify their strengths and areas for improvement. Based on this assessment, we will create a personalized treatment plan that is tailored to your child’s unique needs. Our team of dedicated Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) will work closely with your child to implement the plan of care, which includes specific ABA strategies, targeted skills, and positive reinforcement.

Monitoring and tracking progress is a vital aspect of ABA therapy.

We believe in regular reassessments to ensure that your child is making meaningful progress towards their goals. Every six months, we conduct reassessment meetings where we meet with you, as well as any other caregivers involved in your child’s care. These meetings provide an opportunity to review progress made outside of the center and discuss any concerns or observations. If necessary, adjustments to the treatment plan will be made to ensure continued growth and success for your child.

These key aspects of clinic-based ABA therapy not only offer a holistic approach to each client but also address specific needs effectively.

  • The session length is determined based on your child’s progress and attention span. Initially, sessions may be shorter to ensure your child remains engaged and successful. Pairing

The process of pairing plays a crucial role in our program as it fosters a strong and trusting relationship between our RBTs and your child. At the start of each ABA session, our RBTs prioritize building a connection with your child through engaging in free-play and enjoyable conversations. This time allows the RBT to establish a positive rapport, promoting a sense of comfort and trust. By creating a nurturing and supportive relationship, our ABA treatments become more effective and meaningful. We understand the significance of building a strong foundation of trust, as it forms the basis for successful learning and progress in your child’s ABA journey.

Activities

At Providence Community ABA, our heart is set on crafting activities that are as enjoyable as they are educational. We use proven ABA techniques, like discrete trial training (DTT), natural environment teaching (NET), and token economy, to ensure your child is fully engaged in every session. Our programs are custom-made, considering your child's unique needs and preferences. Each activity, ranging typically from 15 to 30 minutes, is fine-tuned to align with your child's development pace.

Our Community is designed with your child's growth in mind. We've got a variety of toys suitable for different ages, dynamic play equipment such as trampolines and swings, and sensory-stimulating areas like ball pits. We also provide focused learning spaces for your child to practice specific tasks, including sitting and working at a table. Plus, we cover essential life skills, from potty training to basic daily tasks like making a bed, all aimed at nurturing your child's independence and self-confidence.

Parental Participation

Parent involvement is an integral part of our ABA programs, and is necessary for your child’s long-term success. In order to support our families, we incorporate two hours of parent training each month. During training, parents and caregivers will learn about the different ABA techniques, how to incorporate ABA strategies across other environments such as the home and community settings. By actively involving parents in their child’s treatment, we foster a collaborative partnership that empowers parents to play an active role in their child’s growth and development.
